Thriving in Third Grade
I'm Kelsy! I am a 3rd grade teacher, wife, and mom of three busy student-athletes who keep life exciting both in and out of the classroom. Before becoming a teacher, I graduated from San Diego State University, where I competed as an NCAA All-American pole vaulter. After college, I spent ten wonderful years as a stay-at-home mom, raising my family and volunteering in schools, which ultimately inspired me to pursue a career in education.
My journey into teaching was anything but traditional. In 2022, I found myself stepping into a 4th-grade classroom just three weeks before the start of the school year while simultaneously beginning my credential program. What felt like a leap into the unknown quickly became a passion. There were moments of doubt and many challenges along the way, but I discovered that the same perseverance and determination that helped me succeed as an athlete could also help me grow as an educator.
Today, I am in my fourth year of teaching and my first year in 3rd grade after spending three incredible years teaching 4th grade. I am passionate about creating a classroom where students feel safe, supported, challenged, and celebrated. I believe strong relationships are the foundation of learning, and I strive to help every student develop confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
When I'm not teaching, you'll likely find me cheering from the sidelines at one of my children's sporting events, teaching dance, or spending time with my family. My experiences as an athlete, dance teacher, mother, and educator have all shaped who I am and continue to influence the way I teach, lead, and connect with students every day.
